Art Deco Linen Chest
A lovely oak art deco linen chest from the 1930's as it was when it came to us 'in the brown'
Recently completed, this lovey old chest has had the top sanded back and waxed using Hannants Clear Wax to show the warmth of the Oak. The outside has been painted using a knocked back version of Annie Sloan Old Ochre and inside Annie Sloan Versaille
Just look at the difference
But when you look more closely its the way the colour transforms the detailed craftsmanship of the original maker which really makes this a stunning piece
This lovely old chest is currently for sale on our Etsy Shop
New beginings
New beginings are the essence of Alchemy and writing this blog is another new begining in itself
Alchemy Vintage Furniture takes old and unwanted but essentially good furniture, transforming from dark and dull to light and pretty, making it attractive and appealing again, providing it with a new life.
I have always been entranced by colour, everywhere, in nature, fabrics, threads, now using it to create the wonderful transformation of vintage furniture.
I love the way colour changes the shape and aspect of a piece
I hope to share some of Alchemy's journey through this blog and that some who read this will share too
